Recent Works
Continuing her investigation of pigments through the hues of redness, Natalie has explored the fragile nature of colour and its interconnectedness to place and people. Every mark painted or drawn, erasure or stain of red earth pigments is purposefully laid in layers that reflect time and documentation of walking across the dunes of the Mungo Lunettes, capturing its light above and its darkness in the ancient layers below.
In more recent works, her attention is drawn to the gateway to Mungo, Paika Station at Balranald. An introduction of blueness can be seen in When The Waters Return as an intrusion of her red palette but it captures the ebb and flows of water and life over a place filled with ancient stories.
